Recruiting and Talent Management Coordinator

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, an Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a Recruiting and Talent Management Coordinator.

This position can be based in the San Francisco or Silicon Valley office. There is only one opening.

As a member of the Sheppard Mullin’s Talent Management Team, the Recruiting and Talent Management Coordinator will support the San Francisco and Silicon Valley (Menlo Park) offices on all aspects of the entry-level recruiting processes, including on-campus recruiting, and the summer associate program. Additional responsibilities include assistance with lateral recruiting from time to time, and Talent Management goals related to professional development and diversity and inclusion. Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate law school relations including: register for on-campus and virtual program and events as well as interview programs, job fairs and resume collections; serve as a firm representative at recruiting events; review on-campus materials for interviewers; schedule callback interviews; plan and execute offer receptions; coordinate candidate follow-up; prepare offer documents
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of summer associate programs including: planning and attending events; handling expense reimbursements and vendor invoices; coordinating work assignments and evaluations; preparing offer decision packets; and serving as relationship liaison for summer associates, attorneys and staff
  • Assist with occasional lateral associate searches, including draft job descriptions; sourcing candidates; coordinating interviews; collecting feedback and facilitating decision-making conversations with hiring partners in accordance with established strategic goals; and coordinating onboarding and supporting integration efforts
  • Support diversity & inclusion initiatives and apply objective hiring procedures
  • Update firmwide recruiting materials and oversee their distribution to appropriate parties; update and draft forms and manuals for attorney and law student use throughout the year
  • Collect and report industry-related news and data as requested by Talent Management Team
  • Lead or support other national talent development programs, memberships, and initiatives

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will exhibit the following qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Prior law firm or corporate recruiting experience required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team oriented self-starter
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel while demonstrating a professional and service-oriented demeanor
  • Ability to prioritize work and multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent judgment and respect for confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications: Prior human resources and marketing experience


Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Computer/Software Knowledge
Required: Strong computer expertise, with advanced skills in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook and document management systems. Experience using an applicant tracking system.
Preferred: Knowledge of viDesktop, iCIMS, Symplicity, and NetDocs is a plus. Advanced web skills and basic web/graphic design skills are helpful.

Work Environment
Overtime/weekend work is sometimes required.

Travel Requirements
Up to 25% travel. Will need to travel frequently between San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. May need to travel to other US offices for firm and recruiting events.
