The Art of Better ListeningEver notice how some people are better at listening than others? What makes a good listener? How does one become a great listener? As recruiters and career services personnel, we are challenged with listening to students, candidates, lawyers, peers and superiors, but do we really hear them? How can we make sure that we do? The Art of Better Listening will challenge attendees to increase the depth of knowledge they have with respect to what may appear to be a simple skill, but is one of the most important skills that a person can possess: Listening.

“Retaining Dedicated Attorneys” Law firms can strengthen their client relationships and their bottom lines through retention of their best lawyers, yet those lawyers - often women and lawyers of racial or ethnic minorities - frequently leave despite firms' best efforts. Meanwhile law school counselors work with law students and graduates who struggle to find firms which may give them a chance at work-life balance, and employed lawyers who aspire to better balance and flexibility in their existing jobs.
Learn about proven strategies for retention and hear the business case for keeping the “keepers” by offering balanced hours programs and flexible work. Law firm and law school career professionals will leave the program with information for helping lawyers and law students proactively manage their careers and evaluate law firm programs.
